Brian Jacques the guy who wrote the Redwall series just came out with a new adventure series set on the Flying Dutchman its called 'Castaways of the Flying Dutchman'. My guy said the guy knows his boats.
Harry Harrison has some fun with Stainless Steel Rat.. its a bit scifi but its adventure.

Im not shure about action and adventure but fantasy books happpen to be my thing. a sci-fi would be considerd actiony like artemis fowl it has some realistics in it oh try hatchet thats a realistic book i love it any book by gary paulsen
