galvanized steel is the current industry standard. aluminum is actually rare in doors because it is extremely expensive (also not as durable). you will usually only find aluminum on commercial applications such as gas stations and repair garages. if it's painted, it's prolly not aluminum. fiberglass was used for awhile decades ago then fell out of favor but is returning thanks to better manufacturing techniques. personally, i'll never like fiberglass, nothing beat good old fashioned steel. it's strong, cheap, and practically maintenance free as long as you touch up any scratches you get.

Steel or aluminum is usually what is used since it's durable and does not weigh much in it's flattened form. But, here where I live in the Northwest, I have seem new homes going up with wooden doors with imbedded glass panels at the top.

Almost All Garage doors are made of aluminum With a polyurethane Expanding foam core.

either steel or aluminum. the cheaper the door the more likely its made of cheaper material like aluminum.
