Hmmmm, Sexism. in a book about one man's trials and struggles with himself? I guess you could say there is a form of sexism in this book. But consider when Phillip K. Dick wrote the book. Wouldn't looking at the way Deckard(erd) is attempting to live a 'normal' life when all around him is false including his relationship with his wife be a more interesting way of looking at the book? Feeding his android sheep to make it look like they are real when they aren't? Deckard's attempt to find one real thing in his personal existance in a much more interesting way of looking at the book, than looking for sexism in a novel from the 60's.

I believe it is a form of sexism but not really the focus because the woman is not really a woman but an android. The real question is if we create something that is so like us (almost identical in every way) do we have a moral obligation not to exploit it (in the form of sex, or slavery, or whatever).

Good story. I don't think the point is sexism---racism would be more easy to support as a theme and perhaps the true nature of man. There is also a good argument to be made about the fairness of class systems.

Yes, especially in the portrayal of the wife, but I think you could make the argument that the sexism is the character's rather than the author's.

The novel isn't about sexism --unless the reader is one of those people that thinks they see sexism everywhere they look. Come on, Iryna, try to think about something else besides sex, every now & then. You can do it, girl. I'll just bet you can.
