I only take in 2-3 infants/babies in my home so that I am able to provide more personal care to the babies. I am open 5 days a week from 6am-6pm and live in California. I am Infant CPR trained and I am a mother of 3.What would be worth paying for this care if you were a mom or dad?

Depending on what part of CA I would say $190-$300 a week per child for full time. Write up contracts- get their social security number and be prepared to send any unpaid child care bills to collections- otherwise, require payment in advance.

Call around to the bigger daycares in your area and find out their rates. In my area, the average for a newborn is $900 a month (it goes down as they get a bit older.) I think state law in my area is that you can only have 3 infants to a provider anyway.... if you are planning on less child per providoer than the state law that's a plus. ... but don't forget about your own children in the equation. If you have an infant and plan to watch 3 more (plus two ollder children) you're getting up to the point that by law you're not capable of handling that many.

I'd undercut the "big guys" by about 20% to get started.

Go to www.sittercity.com and go to the "Tips & Resources" section. In that section there is a Rate Calculator that you put in some key information (like zip code, number of children, experience, etc) and it will give you an hourly rate for your area and factors. It's great.
The site also offers a great way for you to get the word out about your child care services. It helps babysitters, nannies, and parents to connect.
Parents have to pay to sign up (not much) but it's free for the caregivers.
Good luck!

Okay it depends on your geographical location. The numbers I've seen in the anwers are way higher than anyone in my town pays. More like $100-$120 per week. But that is for a center. If you are looking after them in your home, I think you should charge a bit less than a center. But boy am I glad I don't live in California now.

Hard to say, About 200 a week for good quality infant care?? Haven't done it in a long time. Last time, a few years ago, it was like 150-175 a week.

Check with other child caregivers in your area, because the "market price" will all depend on where you live. Where I live it's always been around $25 per day basic service plus more if there are extra hours or special needs.

I paid $150 to a home daycare, and my baby wasn't cared for properly.

I paid $30 per day to a grandma babysitter with no certification, and she was fantastic.
