So far no body has measured the poverty level in India. We have focused our attention only on Globalisation,Eurpoian Economy and have opened the doors to foreighn companies. So day by day the invasion is heavy in Tamilnadu and I am unaware of other states.Even in India the Reliance have to the lower level of selleing vegetables and their by some pedastrian seller is loosing the profit margin and how come the poverty will be eliminated.Whatever i have said related to a city , and what about the village level, no politician has so far said anything about the improvement of villages. So eradication of poverty in 10 yrs or by 20 yrs may remain only as dream, practically it is not possible.I am pained to give this answer.

First define a poverty level. In the USA, a common poverty level is $12,000 for a household of 4. There is no real official number, otherwise the Government wouldn't be able to spin it. Even the US has 20 - 40% of people living below poverty, depends who spins it. Countries like Sweden or Germany are more social and have no real poverty. You have to consider, that a handful of rice a day is in some regions wealth, in other regions nothing. The easiest way as a country to get rich is, to stop breeding like rabbits, the Chinese know that.

Looking at the present situation in politics, I see a pessimistic situation of India.
Presently, the government has recorded about 26% people below poverty line and in comparision to 1950, we have eradicated about 26% of the population. So if we consider this speed and attitude of these wolves, it will atleast take more than 50 years to eradicate this situation.

India has 2 types of poverty.
1. Economic insecurity
2. Social insecurity
The truth is India will disintegrate before it becomes free from poverty.

You cant put a time frame on democracy. To eradicate poverty, unemployment and other other important issues, one has to have a truly democratic government. Only the people of the country can vote a descent government into power.

I do not believe it will be possible. One must merely look back into human history. There has always been an underclass in society. Unless there is some fundamental shift in humanity that is present only in India, they are likely to make the same mistakes as any other country has (Communist or Capitalist).

Oh yea.
Even in less time.
If Japan can be 2nd economy in 40 yrs; if nations of dark ages (Europe) can be ruler of the world, if an unknown continent (USA) can be most powerful, if highly dense cities (Tokyo, New York) can be wealthiest....
Then why not INDIA and why not within 10 yrs.
She is RICH in all resources. Let's we human make ourselves richer in that landmass.
