So now you have learned something about DELL QUALITY... there is none. So just do what works for you... and good luck with that. Otherwise, hand on the phone with a DELL Support guy for about 3 hours to see if they can help you.
You see, I would be DONE WITH DELL. If you had a Toshiba laptop, the Tech guy would get you DONE within 10 minutes, with only 2 of those minutes ON HOLD. You'd have a great time with HP too. With DELL, you have to claw your way through the layers and levels of support.
It's about time that consumers TAKE CHARGE, and buy from companies that really support their customers.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

I believe your computer is looking at your printer as a possible boot source. If this is the case then you can fix this by changing you boot order. To do this when your computer starts hit the F2 button to bring up your setup and there is some option that says boot sequence or some to do with boot order. Just go in there and change your boot order to go from the CD-ROM to the Hard Drive and then from the floppy if there are any options left they wont matter as long as they're not in front of the first 3.

Update driver. Run PC in safe mode and un-install the driver for the printer. Search the net for updates on your hardware. If you find one, download and install. Good luck buddy.. Most likely the junky cable Dell sends out with the machine.
Look at these two threads for solutions:

they are all copycats.. they ape their elders, mothers and dads and forefather.. to boot, they think that the international is the different way up, and to make certain the international in directly way, they grasp the different way up. besides, usually, they stay jointly in thousands and thousands in a congested-slender place.. So, with a view to keep area and accommodate extra they grasp this variety.. one extra, that's far less annoying and speedier to take the flying start up in the direction of the gravitation power than in different way, in case of unpredicted incidents.so they grasp dealing with the earth (the different way up)
