In 2001, car was repossessed and sold at auction. I filed bk but bf did not. If we buy a home can the lender of the car come after the house?

We have been together for 8 years. I am currently receiving financial aid for school and would not get it if we were married. Once school is over we plan on getting married. We do have money available for a small down payment.

They can not take your primary residence.
So you are thinking of buying a home with your boyfriend?
This is getting more common but it is a High Risk for you both. One can not sell without the others signature. What if the relationship goes sour? Or one Dies? Or one goes bankrupt?
Too many things can happen in Life to trust a big investment to work out.
My suggestion is rent or get married first.

No they can not take your home. If you are entitled on the home and they have a judgment for any amount still owed on the repo then they can attach that to your home. It will eventually expire-- but if you ever refi or try to sell and it has not then you will pay.

No, but they can garnish your wages for the amount of money that wasn't covered from the sale of your car.
