single is one layer, double is 2 layers, and triple is 3 layers. if you need a new roof and you have a double or a single then you may be able to get away with putting on a third layer just make sure you check with your town's requirements some towns/states only allow 2 layers. that means you would have to rip off the old before you can replace with new. that can get pretty expensive. you'll need a dumpster and some one to help. you can e-mail me with any more questions, i'll run them by my hubby.

depending on the type of roof, the numbers indicate the layers of different roofs that has been place. depending on the weight configurations its better to just be safe and remove any layers of 2 or more then install the new roof if needed. especially if you live in an area where moderate to heavy snowfall may add more weight to your roof.
