I know I went by how he was doing with foods. I saw that my son was eating really good on stage 1 foods and so I tried him out with stage 2 and it is just a little thicker and has actually bits of foods too. He was on stage 2 foods at 7 months. You sometimes just have to go with how you think your child is reacting to the foods and not follow the charts. Sometimes they are not right.

I have a 1 year old so I recently went through this. I would wait till she is about 7 mo. But it mostly has to do with how she is handling the food. Try a jar of 2nd food and see if she has a problem eating it if she doesn't than it should be ok. Just beaware of looking for food allergies and constipation. There isn't any certain age to start your little one's on the stage foods. It's all up to you and you baby. How YOU feel about it and how she handles it. If you'e not comfortable with it then wait. Hope this helps.

On the back of a box of Gerber rice cereal, it says you should watch for developmental signs to know when and what to feed your baby. They can start stage one foods when they can sit up while you support them. Stage two foods can be started when they can sit up all by themselves. Stage 3 foods can be started when they can crawl. So if she's sitting up by herself, and doing fine with all her stage one foods, it's fine to start trying stage 2. I started my son on stage 2 at about 6-1/2 months. You should keep her on stage 1 foods for probably a month at least, so she'll get used to eating solids and digesting them before introducing newer stages too.
It's not by age though, since every baby digestive system develops differently.

Well every baby is different...so let her be your biggest signal...
The only things you really have to watch out for is the ingredients...some things you should n't give until at least 6 months...other things like dairy (cow's milk) you should hold off for a year.
But all baby foods are different also...check the manufacturers website...
With Beechnut, the stage two's are intended for children upwards of 7 months...But there are some things that I give my son that are stage two (like pears) and he's only 5 months.
Bottom line...is it's up to you...and you have to decide what's right for your child and when.
Just keep in mind that there are some things that should be avoided until certain ages...jsut to help prevent food allergies or digestive discomfort.
Because of the protiens in cow's milk, the baby shouldn't have any until they are a year...but yogurt can be given I think between 6 and 8 months because of the active bacteria in yogurt make the existing dairy proteins easier to digest...
Here's a link to an article about food allergies.

Let your baby and nutritional common sense be your guide...
Good Luck

As a mother i know baby don't come with book,so u have to do what you think u r child is ready for, but this age baby is not ready for stage 2 yet as their system is not ready to handle heavy food so,i think u should wait until they are 7 months old,but if you want you could replace one feeding a day with the stage two. same time try more fluids also , so its easy to pass out for them.........good luck

I never listened to the charts. Once a baby has had all or most of the stage one foods and tollerates them well, then it is fine to move on to stage two. It goes more by her toleration than age, or development. If she gags on any of the stage one foods than I would wait a little longer. If not then it is fine.

Honestly you shouldn't be feeding any solid food to any baby that can't sit up on their own yet. It doesn't matter what their age is. First check with your doctor - they are the guidelines that you should be following. Babies at this age don't need solid food for its nutritional value, but more so to practice eating. The baby should still be drinking just as much formula/breast milk at this stage as well, so make sure that you're not replacing any of this with her 3 "meals". The formula/breast milk contains all of the nutritional values that a baby needs at this stage.

at 2 months you should attempt her with some farrax undecided if u have the stuff the place ur from. or purely the infant jars of fruit do no longer provide her something extra purely yet for the reason that u have not in the previous. you should make certain how she handles it. you will possibly be able to observe a extensive distinction in her poohs aswell for the 1st week or so. She could be too youthful for soilds purely yet i began out giving my son soilds at around 3 months for a similar reason as you. It felt like i grow to be purely feeding him all day daily. She is often purely dealing with a growth spert so she is wanting extra nutrition. possibly attempt giving her extra milk and giving her slightly of the puree culmination by way of out the day

keep at stage 1 until that is not satisfying her anymore in between her bottle feedings. you don't want to move too quickly and overfeed her.
