I think a salary raise for anyone in government should be put on the ballot. Let us decide when the pols deserve a raise. They have such a hard time raising minimum wage yet none of them work for minimum wage and can give themselves a raise whenever they like. It isn't right. Put it to a vote!

In the past 10 years, senators have received 8 pay raises...while the minimum wage remained the same.

I think that government salaries should be determined by the people, as it is the people who pay them. It would be a sure fire way to weed out those who truly want to serve, and those who want power.

I think they get paid way too much. I think if you're a public servant (which all politicians are, from your local school board to the President of the United States), then you should have to live on $35,000 per year. No more than that. And NO campaign donations should be allowed. That would weed out all the idiots who are only in it for the money.

The salaries aren't as much out of line as the pensions are and the other benefits. These guys in the Senate & the House can retire after serving 1 term...!

If you want to make yourself angry, look into the benefits and how short a time they must work to earn them. How long do you have to work for a pension?

For members of Congress, or any position that is now able to vote their own wage, hell yea!
