i find that the best opportunity is right now during spring training. many of the teams train in arizona and i have gotten some very nice autographs every year. willie mays, barry and bobby bonds, and a host of others. players tend to be more loose during this period because the real pressures of the regular season haven't begun. don't know where the cubs train at but you should try to get there!

This is what you should do. Before the games, before the players even get there, go to the Cubs parking lot. They wont actually let you into the lot but you can wait outside of it. The players usually come by and give out autographs and are willing to take pictures. I've been doing it for the past 10 years and it always works.

I've had season tickets for almost 10 years at Wrigley and I've been able to get several autographs during the season.
On game days get to the park early and get down to the dugout area during batting practice. Sometimes they will wonder over and give autographs.
Also, you can get almost anyone signing the 7th inning stretch. Once they are done singing, wait along the side of the ramp just next to the press box door. The guests will come out with a security detail but they will usually sign autographs. Last year I got Will Ferrell, Gale Sayers, Richard Dent, Ernie Banks as they left the press box.

I would take a child with you. The players always go for kids and you can get their autograph. Good luck to you.

There are many good bars around Wrigley Field. Go there. That is where the players hang out after another loss.

Hide in the ivy out in the outfield. When they come out on the field, jump out and ask them.
