To draft Tyrus Thomas instead of Lamarcus Aldridge or Brandon Roy

you have to focus on a team's needs. they have players that fit the style of play their team employs. brandon would not have been a good fit for them and would not be getting the playing time there. they are bringing tyrus along real well. he will be fine. their team is a very solid squad that any team better come to play every night. their guard play is awesome and they have rebounding. if only big ben averaged as many points as rebounds, they would be blowing the east out of the water.

I guess it depends on a matter of pereception. In my opinion the Bulls couldn't go wrong no matter which of the three they drafted. However there need was at forward so that's what they went with. Tyrus Thomas is a pretty good player and is only gonna get better with time. Not that Lamarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy aren't good players because they are.

Certainly not Brandon Roy. The Bulls have plenty of good perimeter players. Aldridge? That's another story. The Bulls will pay for not having a low post scorer again in the playoffs this year. Thomas is an exceptional athlete, in the Josh Smith mode. But that doesn't win playoff games. A low post scorer that requires a double-team wins playoff games. Aldridge isn't a final product yet, but you can be comfortable that the Blazers got the best of the draft day trade.

i don't think it was a mistake, and as deep as chicago is, no rookie would see much time there. i think tyrus will be fine, he plays well when given some time here and there, and he's definitely the best shot blocker that was drafted. aldridge is putting up some good numbers now, some in garbage time when the blazers are down 20 pts, and he's getting some extra pt because of injuries. to compare them head to head, look at last years ncaa tourney game, where tyrus completely shut down aldrige in an LSU win. brandon roy may be the best rookie of this class though, he plays like a vet.

Not if you look at what the Bulls have done. They have a talented core of wing players and Roy wouldn't have gotten the minutes that he needs to be effective for you. He's not really a one or a two, so you'd be at a disadvantage of playing him with Gordon when it comes time to run your offense. And then you have Deng, Nocioni, Hinrich, and Duhon to play on the perimeter. They love the way Thabo Sefalosha and Adrian Griffin harass opponents on the perimeter. So he wouldn't fit. As for Aldridge... he might have worked. But with the style of defense that the Bulls employ, they needed an athletic big to complement Big Ben. That's why you draft Thomas.

In hindsight, I believe that it was all about opportunity. Chicago still has all of it's starters from the beginning of the year. LaMarcus Aldridge would still be a backup if he were in Chicago. Due to injuries to Joel Przybilla and the fact that Jamaal Magliore will not play as well as he can, Aldrigde has become a starter. That's all.

That's a great question. As of now, no, it was not a bad decision. Tyrus is playing well and growing.
