Yeah, but his height is the reason why. His skills are good but not great. It is his height that makes him what he is.

Let's see, he's at 24.5 points, 51% from the field, 85% from the line and 9.6 rebounds a game. Is that the mark of a good player? He has been hurt and only played 39 games this year, but you can't blame injuries on a player - they are a part of the game. When he's in the lineup with Tracy McGrady, the Rockets are as good a team as anyone in the league.

Shaq doesn't hate Yao. He made some flippant remarks which he immediately apologized for - Yao has accepted his apology (the Asian-American community has not, though) so it's a done deal.

For a good portion of the last two years, Yao has been the most dominant big man in the league. If he wasn't as tall as he is, you'd probably say that he isn't a very good play, but given his height, his footwork, and his ability to hit that 5-7 foot jumper, I'd say he's a good player.

All he needs is to be a bit more aggressive on the glass to be a great player in this league.

Yao is very injury prone because of his height, but when he is playing, he is one of the most dominant big men in the game... if he can stay away from injuries (very hard because of the weight on his knees and feet...) he will continue to get better.

Think about it, if he wasn't a 'good' player, Houston wouldn't have picked him #1, and they wouldn't have extended his contract for 6-years and a maximum contract. He wouldn't be voted into the All Star starter (when he was still injured).

Yao is a superstar.

Although I think this is a silly question I will indulge you and answer it anyway. Yao is a good player with the potential to be a great player. His low-post presence is so bothersome to other teams. His shot selection is descent. His defense is good, not great but good.

Shaq does not hate him. SHAQ is just trying to remind everyone that he is still the most dominant player in the NBA. I love it when they Heat and Rockets play because it causes Yao & SHAQ to play better.

No, Yao Ming hella sucks. Ming isn't even good, he just gets a foul called on the other team every time he touches it and reaches over people. Yao Ming shouldn't even be in the all-star game, but he is cause they give Chinese people ballits and they go, "oh, Yao Ming, he from China, vote him, vote him" and there are, like, billions of people in China who all vote for him

compared to every other 7'5" giant that has played he's actually pretty talented. He's got decent footwork and a nice touch inside. Shaq probably hates him because Yao is the only guy in the league he can't just reach over and score on. Yao is decent, and the Rockets aren't nearly as effective without him

I think he's slowly learning how to really play basketball. Remember, he faced NBA competition straight out of China- no college, no developmental league, anything. It took him a few years to rebound and play defense. Is he in Shaquielle O'Neal's or Tim Duncan's league- no, and he never will be. But he is serviceable and Houston will give Utah a scare in round one because of him. Dallas owns him though.

i think he is not. because even his height some times short players could block him that might be normal but they block him while he was dunking :S. also he is soo slow, if he could have a better condition and FG% he will be better
