Being overweight can cause a lot of pregnancy problems- from gestational diabetes to an increased risk of miscarriage. You will want to speak with your doctor, eat VERY healthy and exercise during your pregnancy- don't DIET per se but if you changed your current habits you are bound to lose weight.
Keep in mind being overweight also causes a lot of problems with c-sections...so do everything possible to stay in shape and plan for a vaginal delivery.

You should be fine and so should your baby. Whatever you do don't start trying to lose weight while you are pregnant, but you may not need to put on a full 30 pounds either. I weighed 204 when I got pregnant with my first, 220 with my second and about 260 with my third. I'm probably built a bit bigger than you (my ideal weight is about 160) but the point remains clear. Both of my pregnancies have been wonderful, and the babies were great. Now 36 weeks into my third things are just great and the baby is doing fine. I actually haven't had half the problems that many of my thinner friends have had, not that being overweight is better, but it's not an automatic sentence to a miserable pregnancy or an unhealthy baby either!

Don't worry as long as you are a healthy person...meaning you have no existing health problems, you shouldn't have any major complications with your pregnancy. I'm also about 100 lbs. over weight and 11 weeks pregnant. So far my pregnancy has been great. Many over weight women get pregnant and have healthy pregnancies and babies. Yes you will have increased risks because you are over weight, but like I said before if you have no underlying medical problems you should be fine. I hate how some people say oh yes your obese and will have a very high risk pregnancy when that isn't necessarily true. Just talk to your Dr. about your concerns and they should help you out. Oh and if you are pregnant, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I would start eating healthy and If you are pregnant your doctor can go over any complication with you. On good morning america this morning they were talking about pregnancy. Doctors say that a normal weighted person should gain around 25 lbs during pregnancy while doctors only like to see over weight people gain 10-15 pounds during pregnancy. If you are not pregnant, take action and go to the gym and try to eat healthy to lose weight so it will not be dangerous to you in the future.

I was about 50 pounds overweight when i got pregnant and everything was fine with me. Just try not to gain a lot of weight and eat well and try to go for a walk or do some form of exercise. Sometimes if you are overweight when pregnant you are at an increased risk of diabetes and high blood pressure, but these things are manageable. Just take good care of yourself. I had a c-section and was fine.
p.s. A lot of people will probably say things to scare you on here, take it with a grain of salt.

your doctor might suggest a few thing differntly. such as maybe few weeks of bed rest towards the end of the pregnancy... if you've got a bigger stomach you probably wont show at all either.. just really depends. Its never too late to start watching what you eat. Dont "diet" as most doctors suggest you not to while pregnant but now is the perfect time to stay away from "junk", such as sodas, fast foods, candy.. Start walking now rather than later on in your pregnancy. You might lose some weight since your 100lbs over weight but nothing to worry about if thats the case. Whatever you decided to do though always, ALWAYS, talk to doc before hand to make sure it fits you best. Im just working off of considering you dont have other medical problems such as diabettes or anything else.
good luck and congrats!

Your weight can increase complications, but most are controllable! Don't freak yourself out. DO try to get in 30 minutes of walking daily--it helps both control blood sugar and blood pressure. Eliminate the junk food from your diet. Other than that, see your doc.
BTW, you should be aware that there are docs who are fat phobic. If your doc makes you feel 'small', go to a different doc. Ragging on you about your weight while pregnant is totally not useful.

Good news is that if you are preggo you probably won't gain much weight! The only complications would be for yourself.
Pregnancy puts a mild strain on the heart and if you are overweight that could add to it. Also you could be at a greater risk for gestational diabetes (it only lasts during pregnancy), in which case the doctor will put you on a special diet where you will actually lose weight.

I was overweight when I had my baby....
Diabetes is a problem you could face, but I didn't have that problem at all.
You run the risk of having a big baby, but I didn't have that problem. (mine was 8# at birth)
I can tell you that you will be very uncomfortable near the end....I couldn't walk at all during the last month, and walking was very painful during the 7th/8th months.
Start walking an hour a day. Try to do some good stretches.
Do this now, so you can get around a little more.

I don't think that it will hurt your baby being this overwight. I would try to eat only healthy foods and excecise daily, simply walking is good enough. Just eat healthy for you and the baby this way you won't put on extra ounds that you don't need. Then once the baby is born, you can pick up some other excersise and continue eating healthy and maybe loose some of the excess weight.
