My doctor told me to take them with caution and not to take too much of them. I wouldn't use any product over two weeks anyway. It can harm your liver if used longterm.
I'm sure your baby is safe, because you are so far along that you are out of the "danger zone." To play it safe, use it sparingly, just when symptoms are unmanagable.
Best of luck

I was told NO to Phenlephrine HCI. My doc said I had to take the old fashioned Supafhed that get from the pharmacist now. The new Sudaphed is not approved for pregnancy. As far as Benadryl, it is perfectly safe, I take it often to help me sleep.
You are 31 weeks anyways, all of your babys organs are fully developed they just need to mature a bit, you can't reallly do any damage

benadryl is a class B drug which means it has been tested on animals while pregnant and has had not been able to prove any harm to a developing fetus in any trimester however phenylephrine is considered a class C which adverse reactions have been found in developing fetuses but have not had any testing done on human fetuses. i would only take any medications only if it was necessary while pregnant, just look at the meds in the past that has been linked to fetal damage in the past and some of them were often prescribed by doctors

Oh my, I just had artificial insemination a week ago and I have the worst cold, flu, or bronchitis I have ever had in my life! I am going to the doctor today and I will see what they say to take. Please don't freak, that could be stressful to baby. It will probably be okay, because many junkies babies have turned out fine & you are no where close to those strong addictive drugs. Maybe you can ask your OB GYN or get a second opinion to ease your stress.

I took it with all 3 of my kids. I had one 9lb, one 9lb 1 ounce and 1 7lb 6 ounce. They were all very healthy babies. You don't have anything to worry about. I had 3 different doctors to and everyone told me it was fine. Worry will cause more harm than taking the medication. SO DON"T WORRY. Good luck with the new one.

Go with what the doc says, but be sure to ask if there is something else you can take instead of benadryl....do you have allergies? There might be something else you can take.
(benadryl is okay....just that it can make you sleepy/grouchy)
If you have inhaled allergies, I am pretty sure you can take claritin, which helps...just ask doc.

Honestly- I would wait out the cold or try something like saline drops or a humidifier.

Do you trust your doctor? If not I am wondering why you are seeing him or her. I always take what my doctor says over what a bunch of yahoos on the internet say, but I trust my doctor implicitly. While I know they are human and can make mistakes, I trust him thats why I see him.

I would go by what the doctor is saying... not what people on Y!A are saying. We are not doctors or nurses. Stick with the doctor's list of things you can and can not take. Best of luck.
