Sean Penn is showing his true colors and following in his fathers footsteps.

His father, Leo Penn, was a strong political supporter of Joseph Stalin and advocated US neutrality in the war in Europe during the period of time where the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact created an alliance between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. The moment Hitler violated that pact Penn urged that America enter the war. Basically he was a communist party supporter.

Sean Penn has openly supported Hugo Chavez and his drive for communism in Venezuala. He is now bashing the USA over the middle east, praising Iran, etc.

Is this guy the poster child for the democratic party? Do you really listen to wacko's like him? Your party has been hijacked and isn't it time you take it back?

Mr. White - Hannity, Limbaugh, and Savage back up their comments with facts. Sean Penn is not.

Alphabet - I have seen Sean Penn's acting. Can stand it. So I disagree with the statement he is a great actor.

I totally agree with you! I'm not a dem (I know that's who your question is aimed at) but I totally agree with what you're saying. I have to believe that a lot of dems just don't get educated on who/what they're following. I think they assume that being a democrat is someone who always wants peace and everyone to be equal.

Unfortunately it's just the opposite. Dems promote socialized everything and government control over human life. The ex-communists have done a great job at hiding themselves within the democractic party and enviornmentalist groups.

You're totally right.

Sean Penn is an idiot who just happens to be famous, so he gets the media to let him say whatever stupid things he wants to say! I'm a democrat, but Sean Penn doesn't speak for me, or most other democrats! Your right! The guy is a WACKO!!! The republicans also have their fair share of off the wall, crazy, wacko's! I don't usually think that everything someone who speaks out with their own wild ideas says is what every republican actually thinks! There is Wacko's everywhere, you can't really not relize that? C'mon!

Why would anyone look towards Hollywood as an example of politics or to be the poster boy/girl of either the democratic party or the republican party? Hollywood is a fantasy and most of the inhabitants have no idea how the real world works - Sean Penn has a microphone in front of him at most times due to his fame but are you going to base your decisions on anything he says? If Sean Penn told you to jump off a cliff would you?

Hollywood does not represent the average citizen why would you take their advice on politics?

To Mr White...the first and most striking difference between Mr Penns baseless tirades and the political commentary of Limbaugh and others is that those commentators utilize FACTS ... Sean Penn simply does not.
He reads straight from the playbook of the radical left which is a rather disjointed litany of half-truths, non-truths, innuendo and supposition that all tie together in some bizarre mis-mash of theories that go from "Bush is in Iraq for oil' to 'he's doing it for his father' to 'he just loves killing people in the name of Jesus' to 'Cheney is really the one in charge - it's all so Halliburton can make money'...
What is so incredible is that many people espousing these ridiculous notions actually have more than a fifth grade education!
Sean Penn is a poster child for the ill-informed hate speech of the radical Bush/America haters...he does more to undermine the radical leftist position than all the Anne Coulters in the world.
Keep up the good work Sean, you pinhead.

Sean Penn or any other celebrity has no influence in my opinions of this war or the Bush administration. I can come up with my conclusions on my own without their influence. It does not take Einstein to see that this war is a huge mistake and was instigated out of a web of lies. It does not take a genius to realize that Bush has neither the guts or the grace to say he made a mistake. He would rather have soldiers bleed and die. Sean Penn has his own reasons for speaking out against this war. To let them keep on sending soldiers to this meatgrinder in Iraq is morally wrong to a lot of us. And to live we have to speak out against this horrific thing. It takes more to make a patriot than wrapping up in a flag and marching around and spewing family values ad nauseum. People are dying daily. Does this not upset you?

I didn't read the follow-up to your question. I wanted to just answer the question. I have no idea where Sean Penn (who, last time I checked, was only an ACTOR) stands on ANY political issue.

I don't listen to actors, comedians or my mailman when it comes to forming my political opinion.

No, the only time that I listen to Sean Penn is when I'm watching a movie.

Just because some hollywood 'star' has started to speak out politically and supporting a party, does not mean that the party has been hijacked. It would appear that you listen more to him than democrats!

Freedom of speech is still in the constitution, isn't it? And he does have the right to voice his opinion, correct? Its up to the people of the country to listen to those they respect...and not just a well known face.

So much has been said about the hollywood support of the Democratic Party. Sadly, many people know more about their favorite 'star's' politics than the actual candidates. But that says more to me about the intelligence of the population than anything else.

Sean Penn is, first and foremost, an actor. Keep that in mind. Next he is an entertainer. Following him is like following Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. They are paid trained monkeys who could not get a good days work.
The Democratic party will not be high jacked by the likes of him. It is Hillary and Barack that we need to watch out for. The party is too big and too strong to be fooled by him.
