I feel very comfortable with telling my friends, my Aunt and my Mom & my brothers that I love them. And of course I tell my pets! I didnt have a lot of affection when I was growing up either. Maybe you're just not very open with any of your feelings. Start talking about the way you feel more often no matter if it is feeling really happy, or sad or annoyed or disappointed, whatever. Maybe if you start expressing more, saying I Love you will feel more natural.

I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling that way. Society seems to have this preconceived notion that we must love our parents unconditionally, no matter how they treat us or what kind of relationship we have with them. This simply is not the case in some circumstances. There's nothing wrong with not displaying your emotions. Too many times we are plagued with images of hearts around a person's head, or them screaming out their love in movies and TV shows, displaying their affection and letting the world know they're in love. It's all crap, if you ask me. How many people do you honestly know who yell from the rooftop, proclaiming their love? I don't know one person who does that, including my beau. We all show our affections in different ways. Don't worry about what other people think. Only you know how you feel, and you don't need to say "I love you" to get the point across.

Love is a very subjective feeling with a very vague feeling(s). There are different forms of love. You love your mother differently than you do your aunt. I'm glad you have your aunt. We all need affection and to have love affirmed and reciprocated. Love takes many forms....sometimes when people work hard to provide you with the necessities of life, fix your car, drive you places, make sure your safe...that is the only form of love that they can show.

I know what you mean. I love my family very very much, but I'm not that affectionate either. Its easy for me to tell my boyfriend I love him, and its easy to tell my neice's and nephews that I love them. I rarely tell my parents, my sisters, or my friends that I love them. I'm just not comfortable with it. If someone says it to me, I get real nervous and don't feel right saying it back. I love everyone that says it to me VERY much, don't get me wrong, but for some reason I am only affectionate to certain people.

yupp, it's way too hard for me too.
it's like i want to say it, but i know at some point my parents will go "aww" or i dont know, something like that and im too embarassed or shy, but really I dont know what it is.
its soo hard. I dont think I ever said it to any of my parents since i was a child, unless I have written it in a birthday card or something because I have.

well just say it. dont feel like u cant. the more u say it the easier it will be 4 u and the pople u say it to. theyll say it back.
i grew up in a family where u have to say i love you every time u talk to them. like when my mom or dad would call, the last wrds we woukd say is i love u. the same when we go to sleep.

You are not the only one who feels like that. Im 18 and i have rarely ever said "I love you" to my parents. it does feel awkward because you are family and its not something you will get used to very easily. like you said, with your aunt it took you time to get accustomed to saying i love you. the same goes with your parents.

i dont, but you could try saying casual i love yous like when u hang up with ur mom just be like "love ya" and it might not feel so weird. dont you think that this might be somewhat of a problem? you should really work on it. talk to your mom.
