As long as you are taking a hormonal birthcontrol pill you can expect your body to react that way. It is usually water weight. Your body actually thinks that it is pregnant when you are on the pill and reacts accordingly.

I have been on it for about 3 years, and I if I remember correctly, after a couple of months the weight issue subsided. However, I am pretty sure that any hormal birth control methods have the possibility for weight gain because of the nature of how they work. I am not sure about the newer ones, like the patch or that Nuvo ring. But, they are both hormonal as well. If you can try sticking with this pill for at least a couple of months, to allow your body to get used to it. It could be too that your body is slightly out of whack from being on 3 pills in the last three months. Good luck.

My doctor told me that whatever birth control i try, i can expect to gain weight because the increase in horomones means your body doesnt feel full/you dont realize youre full. Eat normally, but watch how much - spread your portions out ahead of time so you dont go "hey, ive eaten the whole box already?"
Another thing you can do is try other birth conrtol method. Depo-provera is an injection every 3 months and eventually you stop having periods as well. But i reacted badly to this by bleeding for 3 months irregularly but all the time, so it depends on how well your body takes the horomones. Also, there is the t-bar, the old fashioned but always handy condom with little side effects, and all those other things. There is also a bar inserted into your underarm that gives low dosages of hormones.
Tell your doctor your concerns, im sure you two can review the problems and solutions together! Good luck.

When I was younger and on birth control, I kept an extra l0 pounds on me. Whenever I would come off the pill, to have a baby, I would automatically lose it. So I know it had to be the pill I was on. I guess you have to weigh the balance. You can either have five extra pounds, or become pregnant and/or have irregular cycles, whichever the case. Don't stress out about the five pounds. I bet you look just fine.

My wife stopped taking that about a year ago. She had gained weight even tho she was a very active athletic woman. She was bloated and even had trouble the first four months of just nausea. A year of it was enough.

sadly, this is a side effect of all birth control. Try to modify your diet, excercise regularly, and drink lots of water.
