This is a serious question and I do not mean all girls but majority.

If you really want to know, I'll tell you. Women have evolved the ability and the need to "built a network". Back in the days of prehistory, a woman had to protect herself and her offspring (sometimes from men) and she learned there is safety in numbers. This same network provided support when it came to child care and work. All the women in a group or tribe looked out for all the children, while at the same time gathered or prepared food, or did some other task, which explains why women are good at multi tasking and have better peripheral vision than men.
So basically women talk more because we are building our support system.
Humans have only lived in this so called modern society for a few thousand years, but we lived in family groups for hundreds of thousands of years. That old programming is still there.

Most of the girls I know hardly talk. In my education program, the majority of my classmates are women and there are only a couple of guys. Who ends up talking the most? The guys! And I've heard of studies that have shown that just because it seems like women talk more than men, it is not true. Listen closely sometime, especially in a mixed group (men and women). You might see that guys are actually talking more!

Maybe they are a people person and have to express themselves!! They have to speak their mind and try to point out what is important even if it takes a whole hour to explain what one phrase means!! Others just love to hear themselves talk!!

girls talk so much because we have so much to say and so little time to say it. I dont think we realize that we do talk as much as we do its just one of the many things were good at.

I believe that women are more emotional. Men tend to talk only about important matters, ect. While women like to talk about their emotions. Men tend to be more rational, women more irrational.

Women are hard wired to want to communicate as much as possible with as many people as possible. Its their way of getting closer to others and being able to trust them. There are exceptions to this as you yourself noted but it is the general rule.

most just like to hear themselves talking. they want to hear what other people think of what theyre thinking of. and the gossip...oh my god...the gossip. what kind of girl doesnt want to know about everyone else's personal business???
