free days and then took the first microgynon pack as i would if it had been dianette... i have just read that you are not supposed to have a break when changing pill types. the microgynon didnt agree with me at all and i have now discontinued taking it after the first month. could my having the break in between be the reason that it drove my hormones crazy? and more importantly, would i have had contraceptive protection in this time?

I'm afraid if you changed pills and had a weeks break inbetween you would not have had full contraceptive cover in the first 2 weeks of taking them and would have been best advised to use barrier contraception.
I'd consider a pregnancy test before starting new ones, although i would expect the chances of you having conceived are probably fairly low. Be sure to start new pills on the first day of your bleed for instant contraceptive cover.

i have never switched my pill brand bu i know that you are not suppose to have breaks b/t them like you said. if you want discontinue this whole monthand next month on the first day of your period start a whole new pack of the new pill and that should be fine. if you have any questions call your doctor.
about contrarceptive protection dont have sex w/o a condom until you are aleast one month on the new pill bcuz you will get pregnant for sure cuz your hormanoes are going crazy right now.
