Franchise I would say the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have always had a formidable defense since I can remember. Though they are not the Steel Curtain anymore, they have consistently been good on the defensive side of the ball.

The 2000 Baltimore Ravens were the Best Defensive team of all time.

Hard to say because there are plenty. You got the Orange Crush from Denver, the Monsters of the Midway in Chicago, the Doomsday Defense in Dallas, the Steel Curtain in Pittsburgh, the 2000 Baltimore Ravens, etc. Sorry I couldn't pinpoint just one. It's just so many!! GO BRONCOS!!!!

Hope this helps.

The Steel Curtain of the 70's. Sure the Bears and the Ravens had awesome defenses, but the Steel Curtain was more consistent.

Cheers!

Best franchise (not best season) would have to be between Pitt and the mighty N.Y. Giants, although the steelers have only been good since mid 70's. Giant's fans invented the"D-fence" chant, first ones to realize that a D could win a game on its own. The L.T., Harry Carson gang was amazing to watch and beat some awesome 49er teams, much to my surprise...........

I have to go with Alph W. The Steel Curtain of the early 70's was probably the best defense of all-time.

The Steelers were outscoring teams with just their defense in the early seventies. Late seventies they got that good offense, overshadowing their defense some. But the early Steel Curtain was totally dominating.

The ravens. Any team that can win a superbowl with Trent Dilfer at qb and a horrendous offense has to be the best.
