Yes, definitely cool it down preferably with cold water, not ice. Aloe vera is excellent and you can take some Tylenol for the pain.

What you do do not punture the blisters that come up on your fingers. To treat a minor burn, run cool water over the area of the burn or soak it in a cool water bath (not ice water). Keep the area submerged for at least 5 minutes. After flushing or soaking for several minutes, cover the burn with a sterile bandage or a clean cloth. Over the counter pain medications, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, may be used to help relieve the pain. Minor burns will usually heal without further treatment. No cream, please - keep your finger in ice water for a long time. (Cream will actually 'fry' the burn and make it worse).
I'm afraid that it's likely to continue hurting for a while, but the ice should help and putting stuff on the burn won't take the pain away.

first, is this a first-degree burn (reddening of the skin only, or is there actual blistering (second-degree) or destruction of tissue (third degree)
if it is just a first-degree burn, you can self-treat with an ice bath first, then gently dry the injury and gently wrap in a sterile dressing.
if it is second- or third-degree, you should see a doctor right away
