that time is a torund (donut shaped) and we are like an ant on it, so it seems like we are travelling linearly but really we're curving all over the place?

I was thinking the other day and I just sort of stumbled across this idea -- I may have seen it on tv a long time ago, I don't know -- and I thought "Huh. That's really cool." because you know what?

It eliminates the need for a creator because there is no beginning and there is no end. Not only is it a circle it is also 3D if you will, so there is absolutely no beginning or end. Then you don't have to worry about "Well what was before the big bang?" because everything was and nothing was, in the sense that it is a torund.

Oh, and if you are wondering "Who created the torund?", nobody created it because the torund is time and nobody/nothing can make time.

So what do you think?

Zed -- I didn't say we kept repeating it. You can go around a giant torund without necessarily repeating things, because there are other variables.

Zorch -- You're right, it doesn't really matter, but it's fun think about. I got a kick out of the new religion idea.

Bonnie -- I do not see how luxons and tardyons prove a creator.

Well, at least you're thinking about other kinds of time besides the standard linear kind. I agree with you that we should not take it for granted that there is only one kind of time, and that it's represented by a line, infinite or at least half bounded. Unfortunately, as of right now, even as some theoretical physicists speculate on different kinds of time, there isn't any experiment yet (not that I've heard of anyway) that would help us determine this possibility. Even string theory, with all its messy 11 dimensions, still has only 1 time axis.

Your idea may sound crazy, but I wouldn't be quick to dismiss it.

Possibly another religion discovered. And the best part is that it doesn't matter, really. If you did actually know the origin of the universe, what would you do with that knowledge? Does it buy milk? Grow corn? Fill the gas tank? A new religion (Holy Donut comes to mind) with you as the great dunker might make a few bucks.

Inertial systems which move with velocities below the velocity of light, only start to exist because of the interaction of "luxons" which link together to form "tardyons."
(this is known from recorded studies)
Luxons: Particles that always travel at what we refer to as "light speed." (zero mass)
Tardyons: Particles that travel slower than light. (can never break light speed)

What we know as "time" is from the reference of "light clock" studies.

You study this and you'll come to a conclusion that you cannot disprove a creator.

your saying that whatever we do we shall keep repeating it in every circle of the torund. thats kind of boring right? so for believing in SOMETHING that may be there, for seeking consolation that what ever wrong we do, we were prdestined to do it, that SOMEBODY has written our lives out, we believe in god. theres another way we may try to prove the existence of god. you can assemble the parts of a body from different dead people. you can stitch them together(like frankeinstein)(lets assume that you even manage to make the nerve endings to fuse) but the body wont work because it needs a SOMETHING to run it. it needs this spark. i believe that everyone of us is a kind of frankeinstein with that spark. who gave us that spark?

That sounds really interesting, I have never heard of this theory before, but it sounds plausible. As far as the whole "stitching bodies together" thing that the person above me was talking about, I don't know what they are talking about...

i think that sounds really interesting. and it makes perfect sense. i am always thinking about this kind of stuff. like what if we are really a person's dream? it seems like reality to us. but we could just be someone's imagination. and to us it seems like an eternity. but to them it's a few hours. or we are on something insignificant like a ball of dust or a string of yarn and we think the universe is the biggest thing but in reality it's all so tiny people somewhere else can barely see it in their own reality.

It doesn't change the question at all, unless you are going to convince me that matter is time.
