Follow thte manaufacaturers advice. Two filters normally restrict air flow, both heat and air.

If you are just talking about the 1 dollar cheapies at the hardware store, then yes, you can put 2 in with no problem. They don't have enough pressure drop to be an issue.

Seems to me it would restrict air flow even further, causing the compressor to strain. I would call the manufacturer.
