Pehaps americans will ...Boil their own children to get more. Maybe they would cut off a limb and sell it for a gallon a gas.

I would put nothing past americans.....because of their addiction.

If they keep starting trouble in the mideast...it will be a long cold walk to work.

I disagree with the term "addicted".

Oil is the premier energy source of our time. It is abundant and produces a high yield of energy per volume than most other sources. Some scientists even believe that the planet is producing it and it is not as limited as we once thought.

Our economy & way of life is currently dependent on oil and that is not a bad thing. As time goes by there will be new energy sources developed. This is solely dependent on us continuing to use oil and expand our economy and thus our technology.

And, if you want to use the term "addicted" you need only look at India & China to see how much oil they are using. Americans are not bad for using oil and neither are the people in these other countries who use much more than we do and with much less environmental controls. You may want to start your battle overseas with the countries that pollute much more than the United States every could.

The simple fact is, the entire world will continue to use oil and base their energy on it until cheaper, effective, high yielding energy sources are found, produced or invented.

Even Brazil (that supposedly uses all ethanol if you believe the media) still uses oil for much of its' industries. It is not solely dependent on ethanol and the ethanol they produce is from sugar cane and not corn (yet another fact you never hear from the media).

I hope this helps inform you a little more on the topic and opens your eyes to some different aspects of the topic.

When Bush used the term “addicted to oil” he was only giving lip service to the concepts of conservation and alternative fuels. He never seriously intended to do anything that would cut that addiction. Gaining control of the Iraqi oil was one step towards both keeping oil prices high and yet assuring that there was a reserve available. Bush’s remarks were hypocritical and transparent.

well first of all.. America gets 90% of its oil from South America, canada, Mexico.... very very little comes from the middle-east..

next.. we have alot of oil here in the US off the coast of FL. and Cal. and in alaska that we are not drilling...
the real question is... what will happen when the US stops buying oil from the rest of the world.... that will be a bad shock to alot of people... can you say mass starvation...economies being crushed...
well unless you can sell it to china... but they are currently working on being able to supply what they need themselves...

next.. I would point out that more demon-rats have stock than channey or bush does,.. look up lady bird and then what about the rock-a-fellars .. algore also own stock in oil... funny isnt it

I agree with Larry, we have our own oil reserves that we drill and then cap off, so when all the other countries run out, we will have a full monopoly on oil. Or, if other countries want to stop production altogether, we won't need them anymore, and we will continue to drill our own oil.

To educate you because you need it, the US gets our oil not just from our own exploration, of which there needs to be a lot more off our coasts and in the ANWR but we get it from Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and Africa in that order. What we get from the middle east you could put in a barrel! Oh and China now consumes more than we do, so now that you have been educated, go back to drinking your kool-aide boy!

How can we be addicted when it's our only resource to use in order to just freakin' drive to work?
