Because people are voting for him. It's not that he is a terrible singer, but he isn't American Idol material, so I don't know why people don't pick someone else.
This season is so boring. I can't wait for Bon Jovi night in May, though.

ok right now everyone is wondering that same thing. Sanjaya is still on american idol for three reasons.
1) People are voting for the worst people to ruin the show
2) all of these teenage girls are like in love with him
3) The people from his culture are voting for him because they would all like to prove to us that not just americans can win american idol
I know, everyone is thinking the same thing, why the he** is he still on american idol....but give it time, we all know that he wont actually win

Sanjaya is still in contention because some brainless twits are voting for him. I am not watching anymore until he's gone. I'll watch the last 3 minutes of the elimination show to find out.
