I have a very irregular period. I haven't had it since Oct 2006. I just recently got together with my sons father. Do you think I could get pregnant even if I'm not getting my period like I should be? Plus how do I know if I'm ovulating? I thought when you got your period that mean't you were ovulating.

I wouldn't mind getting pregnant for that person that had the crapy condom answer. I was just wondering. It does matter either way to me. I love kids and I only have one and would like more. So keep comments like that to yourself please!!

It is hard to predict when you would be ovulating when there is no period or irregular periods. The best way to start is by keeping a daily journal of symptoms or absence of symptoms, this way you can help determine when you most likely should take an ovulator predictor. Just because you are not experiencing a period, does not necessarily mean that you won't ovulate. When and if you do ovulate, you can get pregnant. Use precautions just in case! :)
Good luck!

Yes you can. I did and I only have my period every four months sometimes five. There is nothing "wrong" with your body. Some people just don't have a "regular" period every month.
Not to be gross, but even though your body doesn't bleed every month (sorry), you still ovulate. So the egg will still drop.
Not to be gross again: There are a few days out of the month where the discharge (sorry) is just a little different. It's more "smooth" (for a lack of better words) and that allows the sperm to pass through your canal easier. That is when you are ovulating.
Just watch your body and you will be able to tell. If you feel the need, see your doctor and they will explain it further and will probably do some tests to confirm.
Hopefully this helps.... Have a good day!

That could've been the week that you ovulated! I had very irregular periods (one or two per year) and got pregnant.
Irregular periods are something that you want to bring up to your doctor though. You should make an appointment and ask all of these questions. You may need a blood test to check out your hormones and see why you're not getting your period (usually something's just a little out of whack- nothing serious).
I also want to correct a previous poster who said that you're ovulating a week before, during, and after your period. You only ovulate for about 2 days!!

Well you can get pregnant even without a period but if you haven't had a period since 2006 you need to get checked because there might be something wrong with you. Because if your having irregular periods yur body is telling you their is something going haywire in you. So go get a check up just to make sure.

Even if you "usually" have irregular periods you should see a Dr since its been a long time since your last period. You might still be ovulating even if you aren't having a period. I know that right after you have a child you still ovulate even though you might not have a period so it could be possible in your case too.

I think that you can still get pregnant but I would make an appointment to see your GYN because an irregular period could be a sign of something wrong. Some people don't have a regular period but its usually due to a birth control method they are using or some other form of meds that they might be taking.

Generally speaking, I was always told by my gynecologist that when I had cramps, it was just the egg dropping and making it's way through my tubes. You are not ovulating for your entire period and sometimes not at all during your period. When I was planning for my last baby, we used the ovulation kits in stores and I actually ovulate four days before I get any sign of my period, so it could happen, in my opinion.
Great Question!
Good Luck!

I think you should go to the Doctors. I havent heard of an Irregular period like that before. I think you could get pregnant though simply because the egg isnt going anywhere. Just be very careful.

I had my period like clockwork until I had my son--then they came and went as they pleased. However, 6 months is a long time to go without one for no apparent reason. Talk to a dr about it, but if that's normal for you, then yes, you can still get pregnant. I did, with my daughter, after not having a period for 2 months.
