I get razor burn no matter what I do but it's most in my bikini line area and it hurts and itches and it's not very attractive if you catch my drift.

First of all make sure you have a really sharp razor and use it carefully. Next, use a good quality shaving foam with aloe Vera in it and slather it on. Shave in the direction the hair grows, down, toward your feet and in toward your center. After you are finished use a moisturizer without any perfume in it followed by a medicated powder. Try to do this job before going to bed and don't wear any underwear that might chafe you in the creases of your leg. This should lessen the redness. Don't over do this and you may consider giving yourself a little trim with scissors first before you start shaving if your hair is especially long in that area, be cautious, easy to hurt yourself if you are in a hurry.

You're getting some great advice so far. All I have to add is to make sure to clean and exfoliate the area well before and again later. A mesh sponge works well, use it the next day to gently scrub the area to make sure that you don't get ingrown hairs.
If you still have a problem, try seeing a professional for a bikini wax. The place I go to uses 'beruba wax' (I don't know how it's spelled), but it's thick and green and there is no need for the cloth strips with this wax. It's super gentle, and one application and pull is all it takes - you'll be ready to go for a few weeks.

Use a four blade razor...the results are smoother and remember..do not press too hard, some of us act like we are cutting trees down. Shaving cream should be used sparingly...it tends to get in the way of the razor, but make sure the area is wet. Good luck!

I never use a razor...I always get itchy and get bumps

I use an electric razor/trimmer. They sell them at Wal-Mart where the razors are )try a bikini trimmer). The shave is not quite as close, but there are no bumps or itches.

I use a special battery powered razor for this BECAUSE I got tired of the razor burn. It is amazing. I got it at Wal-Mart in the section where they have all the trimmers for guys/razors/shaving cream. Don't forget to lotion it too@!

Sweet Abby, first of all thank you sooo much for keeping that unmentionable area nice and tidy, makes it VERY attractive, and I would suggest that you don't use a true razor, at least not at first. Use a trimmer, like a beard and mustache trimmer,or a hair trimmer and just place the guard down very close. And to prevent any type of razor rash , carefully use an aftershave balm...in the men's shaving section.

just shave around your butthole and around your lips, and trim the upper part, since that's where most of the razor burn happens. I don't mind a strip or a well trimmed patch up top as long as the parts that I lick are shaved clean, and everyone, guys and girls, should shave around their butthole to prevent klingons.

But, if you use a new disposable razor and a shave gel like egde and shave with the grain of the hair, you should be able to get a decent shave without razor burn, although it might take some time for your skin to get used to it. If not though, just trim the uppers like I said earlier, or try waxing.

My wife uses a lotion after shaving there. she isn't here so I can't give you the name of it but it can be bought at Wal-mart. It is specially formulated to help eliminate razor burn.

Or you can go get waxed too...that lasts longer...and not too expensive.

FIRST START WITH A NEW RAZOR, I LIKE THE VENUS RAZOR, THEN GO TO THE ADULT STORE AND GET SOME SHAVING CREAM. THEY HAVE A REALLY GOOD ONE CALLED KITTY KREAM. IT IS GREAT AND IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU RAZOR BURN. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO USE A SHARP NEW RAZOR.
