Home tests can be wrong. They are not 100% effective. It is possible that you skipped a period the month before you got pregnant. Your hormone levels could be off. Please express your concerns more firmly with your doc. ask for an ultrasound to ensure your baby is healthy. you will see the tiny heart beat even if they cant hear it yet. Your doc will do blood work ups later on and possibly an amnio. (they take a sample of amniotic fluid from you). Do not worry. pregnancy is a time to enjoy. Stressing yourself out can cause spotting too.

You go by 2 weeks(about 15 days) after the first day of your last period. If you had your period on February 1st then you would have conceived around the 15th. Some womens cycles vary a few days so its really just a guess until the doctor can confirm everything from an ultrasound. Also the heartbeat usually can't be found until around 12 weeks manually. If you get an ultrasound done, then it will pick up then. You could have been barely pregnant on the 7th. The HPTs pick up even the slightest amount of HCG(pregnancy horomone) in your system.

Well if you are going the normal medical route they will send you for an ultrasound at some point to confirm your dates.
Realistically you know your body and your due date is whenever the baby decides to come out. Seriously because of some screwiness with my last cycle and accidentally getting pregnant I have no idea when this one is due. Probably around Dec 1st but it could really be anywhere from Nov 15 to Dec 15. And even Nov 1st could be a full term birth at 38 weeks.
I am sure my family is going to be pissed off that I won't be giving them an exact date, but you know what it isn't about them.

They usually can not get a heartbeat that early in the pregnancy. At least I know it was like that for me. They ususally go by the last period and give you an estimate and then they can meausre your stomach and tell how far along you are too. He should be able to answer all your questions and if not then you need to find another doc.

Spotting has nothing to do with how far along you are.
The doctors are 100% sure anyway. I would not worry about it. They will know more after your ultrasound.
Otherwise, you don't know, so let it go for now.

I'm not sure but here is a very helpful site. But DR's are NEVER 100% sure of your conception time. Read the artcle...Very important information..

he should have booked you in for a scan which shud give you a estimated due date and tell you how far gone you are. heart beats can be heard in early stages in some woman BUT its not abnormal to hear it anything from 14weeks.. *so i was told :-) * if your unsure of what your docter tells you get a 2nd opinion or speak to a midwife .. congrats on you pregnancy :)
