Gaming rigs stay at the cutting edge, and are always changing specs.
Right now the best gaming rig you can get has:
1000Mhz bus, capable of 1333 Mhz
The nvidia 680i chipset
Intel core 2 duo extreme (either 2 or 4 cores) 6700 - 6800
duel GeForce 8800 GTX graphics cards in SLI mode
4 Gigs of 1000 Mhz ram
a Tb of Hard drive space from 10,000 rpm drives in a raid 0+1 configuration backed up by 7200's
unassembled thats about $4000 with out a case, power supply, monitor, keyboard, mouse, or OS.
Thats enough hardware to power a 100 inch plasma TV at high deff of the latest game with full anti-aliasing at 190 frames per second.

The laptop I just got is an AMD Turion x2 64 (dual-core 64-bit), with 1gig of RAM, 120Gig HD, 256Meg ATI video card, and a Soundblaster Audigy sound card. It runs Windows Vista Home Premium like a champ.
It was around 800-900 bucks, from Dell - and I will put it up against just about any other machine out there - even ones that cost more.

im sorry the above test is so poorly formatted... visite alienware for the proper text...
anyway, i most probably quashed your dreams for a latest coputer... but dont worry...even the computer above will be outdated in an year or two...
anyway, if you want to go for acomputer and do moderate gaming, you should buy
core2duo processor, E6600 or something costs only 7k.
motherboard , /w 965 chipset would be another 8k.
SMPS - 1-2ks
GRAPHIC CARD - Geforce 7600 or somthing... if you wait for a few months, geforce 8600ultra and 8300 will bo out... they arent going to be that costly.
cabinet, keyb, mouse - 3k
monitor - 5-7k, depending on choice and size..
best to contact a local dealer and explain your needs.
and most important fo all, NEVER SETTLE of less than 512 mb ram... seeing as you want the 'latest' you will need at least 1gb.
Sorry to disappoint you about teh computer prices... if you can afford the alienware system, then i envy you...
