My mom works for the manufacturing company (Menu Foods). They got a great deal on wheat gluten, which in turn was found to be laced with rat poisoning! I doubt a company that makes their money solely from the manufacturing of pet food would contaminate the farms and kill their own reputation, but the government could be involved, but don't they have better things to do!

Its hightly unlikely. Menu foods is losing a lot of money. They've had to refund all those products, pay vet bills for any affected animal, no one will buy their food any more, plus their stocks have plummeted. They're is no reason they would poison they're own product.

Conspiracy Theory much? They're making money off those products, they kill animals in other countries they don't make the money - make any sense to you? You also have to remember many places don't have the same laws on pesticides and such, it makes a lot of sense to me that rats would eat wheat germ and you don't want them to - does that mean they meant for the supply to become contaminated - no but it does mean that it could have due to poor practices.

I myself don't buy the fact that it was an accident. I just don't buy their explanation. Something is very fishy. Foods don't become laced with poisons by accident.

I thought they ate dogs and cats in China. What human food comes to us from outside the USA? Aminopterin is an anti-cancer drug. Also, it causes abortions. In slightly higher doses it apparently kills rats, and dogs and cats. Also humans, first with kidney failure then death. In lower doses hair falls out.
