My husband has a bad back (& an insomniac) and insisted on buying a waterbed a year ago even though I don't like waterbeds. He assured me this would be a great bed (not like the old 80s waterbeds) and would fix his back problems. He was sure I would love it. I have slept on it for a year now and I still hate it. It has helped his back problems but now I have back problems. I wake up stiff every morning & can barely get out of bed. This was a very expensive bed so I don't want to complain too much. However, I have resorted to moving to the couch when my back starts hurting in the middle of the night? Any suggestions?

Get a new bed or a new marriage...

Who cares how much it costs. Put it up on craig's list and go explore options that work for BOTH OF YOU.....

Then spend a few fun nights testing it out :-)

Wow, I dont understand how you're able to sleep on the couch without discomfort. If you're that comfortable in the waterbed, doya have room for another small bed of your choosing? A good nite's rest is very important.

I agree with the memory foam or even one of those egg carton-looking mattress pads. Buy a twin size for less than $20 and see if it helps. Or...is there a way to adjust the firmness that the water provides? I would keep adjusting every few days to find the point where it isn't helping his back and you are able to deal with it.

Good Luck!

Hmmm I am not sure if it will work, but can you buy a peice of mememory foam, and put it under the sheet on your half of the bed? Im not sure if it will stay or work on a water bed, but I think memory foam offers a 30 day money back gurantee... it wouldnt hurt to try.

Buy a comfortable single bed of your choice and put it right next to his water bed.. So you both get to sleep in comfort yet you're stil together..
