Yesterday I had to work so asked one of the pa comitee members to source some eggs for our egg hunt she spoke to someone who works at a large supermarket and they said they would get them. She told them how many they needed and they said they would put them by .I went to collect them but was told that the manager had said no to this request so I have spent all afternoon trying to organise the eggs and may just as well done it myself.Would this have made you cross to?

People like to feel good, not necessarily DO good.

When they said they would put the eggs by for you, they felt wonderful about their magnanimous generosity, and probably told 5 people about how wonderful they were.

That they didn't follow through--oh, they forgot all about that part; with the (deliberately) short attention span, they've probably even forgotten that you asked!

Best thing to do is to be suspicious if someone agrees too easily. Confirm and reconfirm, making sure to PRAISE them for doing such a WONDERFUL thing; even call their BOSS a few times and tell THEM how impressed you are with the person, the organization, etc.

This will get you cooperation in at least 50% of the cases where the person had NO INTENTION of keeping their word.

The person or people who took on the task should have at least informed the comity that their mission has failed, to give time for the necessary remedy. To say the least these people are irresponsible.

That is irritating, but to be fair to the committee member and the supermarket employee their desire to help was probably genunine, it was the miserly git of a manager that ruined it, and nobody asked him if he wanted to help, clearly he didn't and never claimed that he did.

Probably because your friend spoke to different people in the market place. Also depends on the race of the person you spoken to, Indian, Jewish are kindda cheap sometimes.
