I am moving to LA in August to pursue an acting career. I realize the need for a day job. Any suggestions? I have a physics degree and I am a certified teacher. I also have an extensive architecture background, CAD...etc. I would like to wait or tend but I assume they are tough to come by, good ones anyway. I look an craigslist all the time but It's tough to tell which are good and which are crap.

Craigslist is interesting as it covers all areas of the US. Have you ever thought about going to LA and getting on with the local schools as a sub-teacher, this would allow you to persue your acting career and allow you to make some extra money on a needed basis.

Get a job as a waiter at a high priced resturant. I'm sure that you would get good tips, as the prices of the meals and drinks are high. Good luck with your career.
