Your mom is being a little nutty, that's ok. But you should just ignore her.
Even *if* you fell down directly on your belly the chances of anything happening are small. And of course generally people manage to not fall on their bellies. People also do lots of more physical sports when pregnant like tennis.
Go ahead walk your dog. Just try to avoid getting hit by cars ;-)
(BTW I walked my dog all during my last pregnancy -which was fine except for the time we got skunked. Which was just bad for morning sickness *lol*)
Edited to add:
OMG just let him out hahahahaha a 6 month old lab will eat you alive in your sleep if you don't walk them at least once a day.
Ok and how many women have been pregnant with toddlers climbing all over them???? Huh and jumping on them on occaision. TRUST ME a 6 month old puppy jumping up on you isn't going to hurt the baby. I can't even count the number of dogs that jumped up on me while I was pregnant. (Yeah yeah you should train your dog not to jump up). Heck I was 4 or 5 months pregnant and I had to carry my 50lbs dog home because he "hurt" his paw. Turns out there was nothing wrong with his paw he was just being a baby.
You are pregnant - not diseased, made of glass, other mentally incompetant and unable to care for yourself or to know when something is too much for YOU.
Your body is perfectly capable of telling you when enough is enough. Listen to your body. Just because I could lift 50lbs when pregnant doesn't mean you can. And your baby is very well protected. And if it makes you feel any better at least 50% of the placenta would have to be affected before the baby would be impacted. In a normal pregnancy there is a lot of extra placenta just in case.

Your dog can't jerk you that hard. Babies are very well protected in there. Even if you fall, they're usually ok. Which is good, because we tend to get pretty clumsy when we're pregnant.
The exercise during pregnancy is great and it'll help in keeping your puppy busy and tired. If he tends to pull a lot, you could take him to an obedience class or use a Halti or Gentle Leader.
People can't resist giving pregnant women all sorts of weird warnings. When pregnant with my first, a coworker chewed me out because I stretched with my arms above my head. She said that would wrap the umbilical cord around the baby's neck and strangle it. The old wives' tales go from the almost sensible to the ridiculous.

Probably not. Walking is great exercise while pregnant, I did it with my second child and only gained 17 pounds. The dog would have to jerk pretty hard to hurt the baby. I have a lab to and I know she doesn't jert hard enough for that. Good Luck and congrats on the new arrival.

We have a 2 year old mini-schnauzer, I try to take him for a walk everyday (if I'm not exhausted) .. and I've never worried about him pulling me .. the only problem I've had walking him while pregnant .. is once he walked right infront of my feet and I almost tripped over him. So now when I walk, I watch my feet :)
My other concern is neighbor dogs .. they always bark at him .. and I'm afraid one of the big ones (possibly a pit bull, or rottweiler, etc.) will get loose and come attack him and hurt me and the baby .. so I take mace with me! I have it on my hand. If any dog tries to attack my dog .. I will mace them!
Also, even if I walk alone .. I take the mace in case I get attacked by a dog .. (or a person).
good luck! God bless!

Goodness, it would have to be a pretty hard jerk to hurt your placenta or the baby. You're fine. Walk away. The exercise will be great for you.

Whats the alternative?
Wrap yourself up in cotton wool until you go into labour?
Carry on with normal life and take precautions in some situations but the last time I checked dog walking wasn't a major factor in casuing miscarriages.

No, you'll be fine as long as the puppy doesn't jump on you. Just be extra careful and walk slowly. ;) Good Luck!
