The heater CORE is the little radiator device under the dash that heats your car. When they begin to leak and drip coolant on the floor, or cause the windshield to fog up, they need to be replaced.
Most full-service repair shops perform this service.

I don't know where El Cajon is but most shops are high, it would be cheaper to do it yourself. Cost of heater core average $30-$80 depending on car plus labor $200-$800 depend on shop.

The heater core is a small radiator located inside of your dash, that allows the engine to heat your interior. The heater core is a very difficult job, because it requires disassembly of most of the dashboard in the vehicle to replace it. Usually, when they go bad, they leak engine coolant inside the vehicle, usually dripping it on the floor. I would also rec commend having the heater hoses replaced while this repair is being done, unless you have had them replaced recently. Any repair shop that does major repairs should be able to do the job, it is labor intensive, so it won't be cheap.....

The heater core is the part which transfers heat from the engine into the cab of the vehicle for heat through the hvac system. It is usually a pretty simple repair which involves removing the heater core from under the dash of the car. Some places are pretty expensive depends on your car.

He didn't say "heater coil" he said "heater core" which is the miniature radiator that brings the heat from the hot coolant to the passenger compartment of your vehicle. It probably is leaking or plugged.
Without knowing the year make and model of your vehicle, I can't venture a guess as to cost.
