First of all congratulations. Yes my labor was induced. My baby got an infection from me being in labor so long and had to stay in the hospital for 10 days after i left. That sucked. Your baby may need special care because of the growing problems :( So i think it would be better to get the baby out and maybe it will do better on the outside than it is on the inside. GOOD LUCK!! & Best Wishes!!

My waters broke at 36 weeks but labour didn't start!!! I went to hospital as instructed by the midwife and they put me on anti-biotics and rest and assured me that "most" people go into labour naturally within 72 hours. When it became obvious that this wasn't happening, they decided that i was to be induced... BUT even though there was no amniotic fluid around the baby anymore they didn't want to induce me until i hit 37 weeks due to the fact that "Flossie" (my pet name for the bump-as i didn't know the sex) would have been classed as premature and quite possibly have needed extra care in the Special Care Baby unit. On the day i hit 37 weeks pregnant, i was given a prostin pessary to start the labour off... which didn't work!! Thought Flossie was clinging to the sides not wanting to come out!!! I ended up having the drip to induce labour which was extremely painful (Not gonna lie to ya) BUT just when i felt i could go no longer without major pain relief, baby Lewis popped out to say hello. He was rather small and needed no extra care which I was pleased about. Saying that tho... my step mother works in the special care unit and the care in those units are second to none. They're fantastic and nothing to worry about. At 36 weeks there is a good chance that your baby will not need any special help either!!!! Best of luck.... wanna know how it goes!! XX

The problem with an early induction is that your body hasn't been allowed the chance to prepare naturally. Your cervix isn't quite ready, and it takes longer to deliver with an induction then if you went into labor on your own. There is also a higher risk of ending up with a c-section due to failure to progress. None of this info is meant to scare you, just what may happen. And no matter what answers you get from people, you must remember that your doctor knows best, and would only do this induction if the benefits to you and baby outweigh the risks. As for your baby, 36 weeks isn't very early. A baby is considered term after 37 weeks. If there are complications, the appropriate staff will be ready and waiting in advance when you deliver. Try not to worry, and best of luck to you!

The best thing about an induced labour is you know exactly when you`re going to get your baby ! You know, when you go into labour and you get to labour ward and they say,"oh no you`re not ready yet, go home for a day or 2 !" None of that for you. So you can prepare away and just look forward to it. Don`t worry about special care and things like that-it`s going to be a small baby - not a poorly baby. All cute and soft and gorgeous, tiny little fingers and toes -- and that`s just you.....

With my 2 oldest, the doc broke my water. Did not require pitocin or what ever med they are using to speed contractions. My first was born in 2 and a half hours, 2nd was 1 hr 25 min. With my daughter, my water broke on its own at 36 weeks. I was afraid with the time it took for the other ones that she would pop out if I sneezed. LOL! Wrong. She was 9 hours of back labor and it was awful! She was born weighing 4lbs 3 oz, and was very healthy indeed. She came home on time 2 days later weighing 3 lbs 15oz, and everyone else was afraid to touch her because she was so tiny. 6 yrs later she has more than made up for her small size at birth. She is 6 yrs old, 65 lbs but not fat, she is well muscled, and beats the stuffing out of her 2 older brothers when they step out of line.
congratulations and good luck.

I was induced as I was 2 weeks overdue and sorry to say the pain is so bad! apparently because the contractions have been forced to start your body is not ready for it thats why it is more painfull.
Im sure you will be fine though and it must be lovely to know exactly what day you will be seeing your baby, It was a night mare been 2 weeks late wondering what day he was gonna come on.
Plus I had my baby in germany (BFPO) and they dont give you pain relief, not hard drugs like this country any way lol,
I hope everything goes well for you and your baby xx

I had to be induced with my youngest, although my waters had gone i wasn't contracting. I was given the gel twice and on the 2nd time it took effect. Didn't have much of a labour, but had a dry birth has my waters had gone 2 days before. He wasn't in special care as he was on time. So that experience i cant give. But i hope all goes well for you Good luck and happy motherhood xxx

I was given pitocin during labor (but labor started naturally) with my first son. The pain was really bad on the drugs so I got the epidual. The epidural made sure I didn't notice my tailbone was being broken during the vaccuum delivery.
That son was born healthy other then a large mark on his head from the vaccuum.
My youngest son was born via c-section and I was supposed to be full-term (they moved back his due date twice for measuring small) and still he was born at an estimated 36 weeks (literally saying that I got a pos. pregnancy test 8 total weeks before I conceived- or my son was small). He had breating problems and I didn't see him for quite some time. It was pretty scary.
