Yes I know I could drive through France and then to London...but my car is quite old :_)

I would suggest that the cheapest route would be a ferry to Marseilles and then drive up. Simply being if you think that the car is not capable of being driven the 670 miles/ 1050 km across France then it is not worth bringing it to England.
An alternative would be to post a load as a"back load" on the following site:http://www.freightalerts.co.uk/ .
And see if you can get it picked up from Marseilles.
A European car delivery firm such as:
http://www.ontime-auto.com/
Is an option they are advertising a £350 deal at the moment although I don't know if that is applicable to you.

Why not drive it ? You could go Italy to France and through the Chunnel.

You could use a specialist car transport company (e.g http://www.ontime-auto.com/ ), who will transport your car in the back of a truck, but it will cost a lot.
