It's possible. It's also possible you have a bladder or kidney infection. I can't believe your doctor didn't have you come in- if you're concerned, he should be concerned. I would insist on coming in anyway and getting checked out.

Probably the pain is from the weight gain and posture changes due to your pregnancy. (being 33 weeks pregnant is enough to pull a muscle even if you haven't done anything!) When you see your doctor next, talk to her about it further though. It could be a kidney infection or something as well, which definitely needs to be addressed. Good luck, and don't let your doctor blow you off if you think that there is a problem. (I doubt it's labor because contractions are RARELY felt only on one side)

First, go to your doctor, have a talk and get checked out, just to be on the safe side, if something's going on that might take away from your baby's development it's best to know early and get it looked at.
So far as back pain though, think of your body, on your back you have a spine to hold you up. On the front you do not. What keeps you up is both your back muscles, and your abdominal muscles. This is why mothers really far along have to get up sort of sideways, because they cannot use their abdominals as easily. This could cause problems as well because if you lift something, you're doing it with your back alone, not your core muscles.
So, pregnancy means some reduction in your use of abdominals, that itself wouldn't be too much trouble, except you have a baby growing. As your baby grows it changes your weight distribution, you go from having centered weight, to having weight on the front of you. Also with the increase in size of breasts, if you think of yourself as a scale, the scale would tip forward now because of weight distribution. This alone can cause back issues. It's why overweight people can have back trouble, because their bellies pull forward. It's also the reason women with large breasts have back problems.
So weight distribution and muscle use could be your answer. However, stop in to see your doctor just to be safe, anything causing pain should be looked at, it should only take a few mins.
Best of luck with it all.

This could very well be true. Some people experience labor pains in their back and back only. Had a friend who did so. I suggest you try using hot and cold compresses and stay off your feet. If that doesn't work, ask your doctor to schedule you an appointment. We don't want to stress the baby!

There are a lot of different aches and pains from this point on. You'll feel the round ligaments stretching, your hips aching, you back hurting. The best is yet to come...a beautiful little baby that will love you forever. Hang in there, it's worth all of the pain that you go through.

I doubt it's labor. What I suggest is to get on all fours. Rock back and forth, side to side and in a circle. Arch your back like you were a cat and then let it relax a few times.
These will help move the baby from pinching nerves in your back (perfect for sciatic pain too). Yoga can do wonders for pregnancy pain!

My back hurt for about 7 weeks before I had my first daughter. It was both sides but I think it is possible that you are having contractions. With my 3rd child I had contractions for the last 2 months. Have they checked your urine? I suppose they have to rule out kidney problems. I hope it gets better for you.

You're holding a lot of weight that you don't normally have to hold up. My sister had the same problem, and her doctor recommended a garment that supports the belly and helps redistribute the weight. I'm putting a link to one below, but I'm sure there are several brands.

you could be, just keep a close eye on it. If it gets to be to bad call the doctor because that is where my labor began and it just went into the front. Good Luck.

I have really bad back pain too. Just look at all the extra weight you have to carry in front of you and nothing to even it out in the back.
Nothing to worry about.
I've had back pain since i was 31 weeks. Hasn't stopped yet. lol.
