What are the laws in Illinois for Child Support? This is a question I have to answer in an essay for school, but I looked on the internet and have noticed that there are many laws and I could probably write a reasearch paper, but I only need bout two paragraphs. Suggestions would be great.

these two links will give you plenty of info for your paper. the first is a child support calculator; just click on your state and fill in "incomes of the parents".

todays child support goes by both parents, thus, both parents contribute to the childs needs.

the second link is ALL of your states facts (just click on your state).

Noncustodial parent pays a percentage of his or her net income (gross minus federal, state, and FICA taxes, and a limited number of other deductions) as child suport, regardless of the income of the custodial parent:
1 child: 20%
2 kids: 28%
3 kids: 33%
etc.
