It is a 3-day business trip and hence I will not have any chance to travel far away from Tokyo city. Therefore, I wish to know if cherry blossom still can be seen in Tokyo on 8 Apr 2007. Hoping very much I get to see it

Shouldn't be a problem barring any nasty storms or heavy winds. You'll be there during my favorite period when the blossoms are falling like snowflakes from the trees.

The blossoms in Tokyo proper will be past their prime, however if you ask around there are places easily accessible from Tokyo that are at higher altitude where the blossoms will still be in full swing. Kumagaya, Saitama is 30 minutes from Tokyo on the Joestsu Shinkansen but will still likely be in full bloom that week.

Too bad that you are going to Tokyo. For the best Cherry Blossoms you have to go to Okinawa!

I recommend Mt. Takao. The cherry blossom there will be full bloom around April 10 so you can catch the best timing. Take express train of Keio line from Shinjuku station and get off at Takaoyamaguchi(高尾山口). It will be about 45 minutes train ride and sure be worth a trip.
Enjoy!

According to this cherry blossom site, the blooming started on March 23. The blooming period is only 5-12 days, depending on the type of tree.

You will definitely still see Cherry blossoms, but by then they will have already started dying away, so they will be considerably less and not as beautiful as they are as when they are in full bloom.
