Believe in destiny and also fate... but do not leave anything to chance!
Destiny is the fruit of the residual balance of karma that has been brought forward from all previous manifestations. That does not mean I cannot change my destiny. By performing the requisite karma in the present life... one can mold ones destiny. How?
Suppose you are born at number 46.30029 in the house of a farmer. In the normal circumstances if I leave everything in the hands of destiny... then I might marry another farmer's daughter and settle down in life.
Alternatively, if I desire marrying the Princess of the state (for which the minimum residual balance of karma required is 50) then in the present manifestation I need to further accumulate a balance of four to marry the Princess. Taking control of destiny is directly governed by the karma we perform.
Bill Gates... practically a school failure dedicated his life for the cause that was dear to his heart. He developed the wonderful Windows program and became the architect of Microsoft Corporation. He augmented his handicap for education by employing the best brains in the industry. He ultimately not only controlled his destiny but of many others.
Destiny is not a matter of choice or desire. We need to perform the right karma to fulfill the desires and choices dear to our heart. Taking control of destiny demands a high level of perfection in everything we do or get done. Those who take the control of their destiny never leave anything to chance.
I wanted to see God face-to-face in this life. I started in search of God at 13 years of age. 25 years of yoga and meditation paved way for my reaching the highest pedestal of the spiritual life. I gained self realization at 37 after establishing absolute control over the five senses and the mind. I ultimately reached the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.
This is my last manifestation... the 8.4 million manifestation! I shall but take salvation (aka moksha in Hinduism) at the end of my present life. Having reached the pinnacle of spiritual glory... the Mount Everest of spiritual life... I have nowhere else to go other than leave the mortal frame at the end of the journey.
A deep-rooted conviction was necessary to take charge of my karma. More on destiny and fate - http://www.godrealized.org/are_you_a_slave_of_your_destiny.html

If you believe in fate or destiny then you are just along for the ride. You have free will for gods sake, so use it! If you were standing in the middle of the street and someone shouted that a bus was coming right for you and someone else shouted that it was your destiny to get hit by that bus, what would you do? I'd rather exercise a little free will and get the hell out of the way and destiny be damned.

Life is a bargaining process
with every choice
comes a price/consequence.
You win some you lose some.
Each choice only goes
as far as the next choice.
Life choices are a bit like
gambling with ones soul
prioritize carefully coz
at the end of the day
its all that
will be left.
Once upon a time
I was a pawn
allowing others to rule me,
accepting this as my
life script "Fate" "destiny"
I see now
There are other ways
to spend my life, whereby
I am in charge and
to an extent control
my own destiny,
Now I can see "I am who I am"
coz I WANT to be.
Life is about choices
We all choose to run our life
According to our own choice
Enlightenment is realizing
that it is your choice
The concious rather than
the subconscionce
running ones life.
Cast a magic eye to
where you would like
to wake up
and find yourself,
look around you
to see what you have,
look inside you
to feel what you have
Your heart will answer
your question whether
or not thats the
right choice for you.
choices made today paves and shapes the path of tomorrow, we all get to where we are going eventually how we feel when we get there depends on how we got there.
we all did what we did for the same reason circumstances ....

As a true believer in fate and destiny, whatever choice you make will be the only one you can actually make. Right now you think you have a choice. Yet you will follow a path, go in a direction, believing that you could have done it differently but perhaps you never could have anyway. What we do is what we do and the only thing that makes us believe there is a choice is our belief that we are choosing, that we control our destiny in each moment. There is no actual proof that choice exists.
So, you will do whatever you do, even if that is to avoid choosing and ultimately it was probably destined to be that way and could never have been different anyway.

No, I don't believe in fate or destiny. You have no control of where you were born, your gender, your intelligence, your capabilities. You DO have conttrol over the choices you make in your life circumstances. Some of your choices will turn out to have good consequences and some will not. You can NOT make a wrong decision because you will learn from whatever choice you make. The compilation of those choices and their consequences is what makes you the person you are and the person you will evolve into.

The choices do matter. There is a fate, but it is not a play by play. Your choices effect the path your life will take, but the path will end up in a predetermined spot. I grew up in backwoods PA. I moved to Cleveland a few years ago for work, and there I met a really good friend. We hit it off immediately and really bonded. It turns out that his grandfather had a cabin right across the street from my nowhere town home. (seriously, population of 90-ish) My good friend used to spend entire summers across the street, yet we ended up meeting two hours away. You could say we were destined to meet, it just wasn't the way that may have been originally expected.
So, when making your choice, you make take the long path, the rough trail, the shortcut, or the smooth road, but either way, you'll end up exactly where you need to be. Best Wishes.

Our destiny is always in our hands.Never believe in fate as that too is ever changing. For example, You may have been told by a fortune teller you,ll live to be 100. And yet the moment you step out from the clairvoyants shop a flower pot may hit ya on the head from upstairs and kill ya. Meaning, sometimes it's not even in our hands o control fate or destiny because accidents do happen and nothing is for certain.

Nothing is written in stone, until your choices are made, destiny won't take you there. And fate is choices you've made that has brought you to a point in life. Fate is always past(that was his fate in life), a place in life one has already made it to. So in a future sense fate is non-existent. Although both are the sum of the choices one makes in life.

if you believe in fate and destiny then your actions will change based upon the severity of them. And yes i believe in fate and destiny, but they don't control where you will end up, it dictates only to a certian point, and then that is when your deicisons make up the rest of your path.

I believe in everything happens for a reason and some things are fate or destiny..As far as choices you make both fate and destiny are effected by your choices but your life will be lived by the things you do...so therefore be careful of your choices..live life to its fullest and my motto is to hurt as few as people in life as possible.
