My friend has no gotten her period since the beginning of Feb. She has taken 4 at home pregnancy tests, had urine done at the doctors, and had blood work done. All of which have come back negative. She was on birth control but she has been off of it for like a year and has had regular periods since then. Could she be pregnant even though every test done has come back negative?

Approximately two weeks after conception, a Human Chorionic Gonadatropin (hCG) hormone is produced by the developing placenta and can be detected in urine and in blood.

A negative pregnancy test indicates either there is no pregnancy, or the amount of hCG is not yet sufficient to be detected. If the test is positive, it confirms the pregnancy. The amount of hCG produced during pregnancy doubles every two to three days, and levels off in the second or third month. If pregnancy is still suspected despite a negative urine test, the test can be repeated after two-three days. Home pregnancy tests that detect hCG in urine are widely available in supermarkets and chemists.

Yes, you could still be pregnant, even if your pregnancy test was negative. It may be that you have miscalculated when your period was due. Perhaps you have tested too soon and there is not enough hCG (hormone that indicates pregnancy) found when you tested. Most tests ask you to wait a period of time, usually a week, and then retest.
hCG about doubles every 48 hours in early pregnancy. A home pregnancy test that is negative on Monday might likely be positive on Wednesday. It is also important to remember that despite the advances in urine home pregnancy tests, blood tests are still considered the best at detecting early pregnancy.

If she has had that many tests done and they are all negative then chances are she is not pregnant. There are a lot of things that can cause you not to get your period. Stress and being over weight are just two of many. She needs to see the doctor to figure out what her reason is for not getting her period.

How long after her period did she have the tests done? It is possible but very unlikely. A blood test is the more advanced step to urine testing. My friend has problems with getting her menstral cycle all together. Everybodies body is different. How long ago did she try to conceive as opposed to when she started testing?

I had low hormone levels at the start of my pregnancy so it took about 4 weeks to get a definate yes result from both blood and home urine kits.

How late is she?

Do home kits in the morning when the hormone levels are higher in the urine.

Pregnancy tests are accurate 1-2 weeks after ovulation.

Periods can stop for a number of reasons and one of these is low body fat.

No ...More than likely she is stressing thinking about not getting her period or about being pregnant she may be delaying her period herself that way..Also if she was on any birthcontrol for a good amount of time than that is the reason for her missed periods.

Probably not, Blood work is usually accurate. She might just be stressing over it too much. That along w/ poor diet can cause your cycle to mess up. How late is she?
