Depends on the context. It can mean simply meeting up or connecting with someone: "Julie and I are hooking up for lunch." It can also mean getting together (making out --> sex) with someone: "I hooked up with Joe at that party last Friday. Do you think he likes me?".

Well, I wouldn't exactly be worried--- YET. She probably just means making out, or a kiss, or holding hands, etc. She's pretty young, so I doubt she means sex. But the term hooking up can mean just about anything. I think it could even mean sitting beside each other in the cafeteria or talking between classes.

It can mean a variety of things but mainly meaning getting together with friends, either it be male or female, to hang out and the like. It can also reference a sexual hook-up as well, but that might not be necessarily the case.

The true meaning of "to hook up" means having sexual intercourse. Of course the English language has gone to the dogs. People call there past girlfriend "ex". They call an unwed mother, a divorcee or widower a "single parent". Who in the world knows what "partner" means now days. If I were you I would ask her what she thinks it mean, she may be just mouthing something to sound "hip"

It could mean anything from just kissing to sex. Hooking up is were some sort of physical contact was made.
