after this congress passes this "Embolden the Enemy Act", and our troops leave by a specified date in 08?

Why has no told us what there thoughts on Iraq are, after the pull out. Does congress think everyone will be singing around camp fires?

The troop surge is working folks, this is not a quagmire unless you listen to CNN.
Why not let the new General do his job. When we leave after victory, with the Iraqi military and police having the same control over crime that we have here. It's not going to be perfect but we can get it close. BTW we have been and still are in Germany since WW2. Also, we won that war.

I have not heard of this embolden the enemy act. Is this something Bush and company are doing to stay in Iraq or to attack Iran? The reason the insurgents are so bold etc is that they see us as infidels on their sacred land. We leave and there is no excuse for them to attack us. We stay and they continue to try and extricate the infidels.

No Kum Ba Ya here. This is serious stuff.

If you think the insurgents are waiting for us to leave to continue the civil war when do we finally leave? 2040, 2066? They will wait. The people of that region have been settling tribal and other desputes for over three thousand years. What makes anyone think we can go in and settle things in just a few years?

People spout off about stay the course, no planned course but stay it anyway. No exit strategy, Shouldn't be in Iraq anyway but should have gone after OBL and Al Qaeda. These people have no idea how things work in that part of the world.

We arm Saddam with WMD and then complain that he has WMD. We support the Taliban against the USSR and then we kick them out of office. We supported the Shah of Iran and now look what it has gotten us. We need to stay out of other countries' affairs.

This war is bankrupting America. Maybe that is part of the Bush plan for world domination, maybe not but something must be done. We can't keep this up.

Sorry, but we've been hearing all the positive spin on Iraq from you guys since the "Mission Accomplished" speech.

Talk all you want. The American public wants the truth, and results. And Bush's credibility on Iraq is ZERO! He can say whatever he wants. Phrase it however he wants. Nobody believes him any more. At home or abroad.

You goons have had 5 years now. If you ever do anything right in Iraq, it will only be because the Democrats are now holding your feet to the fire and demanding that you be accountable for "real" results.

No more "stay the course" crap.

lets be realistic.. Congress is just passing this because it is what they were voted in to do... they know like everyone knows that the President will veto it. But they have to try to do what the nations placed them there for. Now, on the other hand I don't think Iraq will be a stable government no matter how long or how many troops we place there... heck we still have terrorists here in the US.. why do people think Iraq will be terrorist free just because it is a democracy? For all we know they could democratically elect Hezbolah as their next party of power.

I have to add.. In WW II we were fighting nations.. now we are fighting Ideologies... it's a different foe and takes a different strategy.

Iraq will be just fine, if they do what they were supposed to do....FOUR YEARS AGO....and control their own population.

IMHO, I don't think it will happen. the level of sectarian hatred between these people is very high, always has been. Why we didn't understand this going in, I don't understand.

What I do understand is that we will never....let me repeat that for the hard of hearing....NEVER...end the violence there, and I doubt the Iraqis will be able to do it themselves.

This is a civil war, we have no clear enemy, our capital weapons are useless.

It's time to set clear guidelines for the Iraqis, or we'll be there forever. We've already been there longer than we were involved in WWII.

No, they don't think everyone will be singing around camp fires.

They've just realised that they are in a quagmire and they can't fix it. So they're better off having a "timed withdrawal", otherwise known as a "defeat", rather than throwing yet more money and resources at a horrible mess the US has created and now can't fix.

The democrats don't care about Iraq or the American military--all they want is taxes, abortion and the UN.

God willing, the terrorists will have lost the reason for being there, and the insurgents will kill each other off. They're gonna do it anyway whether we're in teh middle of it or not.

If you think the bloodshed is bad, now....

Wait til the Dems make us leave. This place will go to hell fast and all you tax money that has supported it will go straight down the toilet.
