All of a sudden there is no sound coming out of my speakers. The speakers are on and the volume is turned up, but I still don't hear anything. I hear a buzzing sound, so I switch speakers out and I can't hear anything out of those speakers either. I did troubleshooting and everything appears to be in working order...volume and everything is fine. I don't know what could be wrong, help.

What could be the problem???

Your soundcard might be fried.

First though - bring up sound under control panel, and make sure that it isn't muted, or the volume isn't just turned down in windows.

The soundcard might be built into the computer - open it up and look to see where you are plugging the speakers in - if it is a card plugged into the motherboard, then you might try taking it out and reinstalling it. Otherwise it is probably built into the mobo.

In windows, make sure it says that the device is installed and working properly. If someone messed with it, you might need to reinstall the drivers.

If nothing else works, you might need to pick up a new soundcard and install it. You might have to go into BIOS to disable the onboard sound if necessary.

First thing to do is to check all the volume settings on your physical speakers and the system volume levels.

Next thing you could do is switch it out with a known pair of good speakers.

Try a restart of your system.

Try reinstalling the sound drivers or your soundcard or integrated audio.

Check the device manager under system properties to check for any errors under any sound cards and whatnot.

If all else fails....buy a new sound card.

Make sure it's plugged into the right jack. Check your sound card drivers; reinstall if necessary (control panel -> system and see if your sound card has a funky icon next to it). If you have the drivers handy, reinstall anyway, just for giggles.

Next step: try to reseat the sound card (if it's not built-in sound).

Final step: new sound card.

** you asked where is the sound card.... Follow the jack! If its in a slot, you can replace the card. If it's on the motherboard, you can buy a new card and you'll have to into the bios to disable the one on the motherboard. **

If the new speakers are not working either it is probably your sound card.
