I ordered 2 pairs of spectacles from my local optician totalling £480. One pair is scratched on the legs and they have agreed a replacement. However, during the phone call I discovered that both pairs were the display models. Is this the norm? I should have thought that each order would warrant a new product?

Most opticians use the eyewear they have in stock to save you time and money. If the temples (not legs) were scratched, they should have noticed that and replaced them before giving them to you. Poor quality control. They should be able to exchange glasses with the manufacturer with no problem at all, so there definitely should not be a charge to you for this specific issue.

you certainly shouldn't get the display pair!! in response to the person who said that they take the pair and put them with your prescription, that is because the style code is on the inner part of the frame. if you're paying £480, you should get a new pair.

They shouldve been new pairs, unless they told you they were display ones in which you shouldve been able to get a discount. I think you should complain about this, ask for some money back or something.

When you choose your specs you give them the display one and the put it with your notes and prescription so i assume they are off the display all mine have been. but if you do have a problem everything no matter what it is comes with a one year manufacturers warranty so they should be replaced.

You shouldnt recieve display models. You should recieve new frames. If your unhappy with your purchase, seek advice from your local trading standards office for further discussion.
