Boiled them to sterize them and YES!
I actually used Zima bottles (pretty bottles- bad drink) to package bathsalts and then infused "flavored" cooking oils.
I used a cork with a wax cover over it, it was lovely.
My friend made a Bottle "glass" bottom pathway with concrete and cut, broken and all smoothed out brown and green beer bottles as a walk path to the garden, much like folks use marbles or tiles...it was cool. He colored the concrete with a blue/gray sprinkle color and it looks So expensive.... amazing art work... and its BEER bottles.

Depends on how you define profitable. If you had bought $1,000 worth of New Century Financial stock last year, you would've been better off with $1,000 of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock). You could've drank all the beer, taken the cans to the recycling center and come away with more "profit" than you would've had from New Century.
Seriously though... There are some guys down under who are doing incredible things with old beer cans in terms of picking up wireless broadband transmission. If you googled beer can wi-fi you might find a profitable way to move the cans out of your garage while allowing friends to leach off of their unsecured neighbors. This would be about as ethical as climbing behind the wheel in a school zone after you've consumed all your Budweiser but, hey... To each, his own.

In many states you can return them to the liquor store and get 5 cents for each one. Depending on how many you have, that could be a lot of money!

i know some people here in Ga that make redneck windchimes outta them. They sell great and would do well on ebay. They are not just limited to beer cans.

I loved in that movie Twister when she used cans as windmills. I thought they were beautiful when spinning.
