I am planing on taking my honeymoon in Australia this november and would like to know what the weather is like there. My finacee Danielle and I will be going to Alice Springs, Sydney, and to the Great barrier reef. So basically what is the air and water temp in November. Thanks

I think November is an ideal time to go. It's late spring in Sydney, which has a warm temperate climate similar to Italy. And it's before the start of the rainy season, which is from January to March in northern Australia (including both the Great Barrier Reef and Alice Springs).

In Sydney you should expect long, sunny days that are warm to hot but not unbearably hot. I'm talking temperatures in the late 20s or early 30s rather than late 30s or 40s (in degrees Celcius - for Fahrenheit, you double then add 30, so 30C is 90F). The water on Sydney beaches will still be a little chilly but not too bad, probably around 17or 18C.

It's a good time to go to the Great Barrier Reef as it's before the rainy season and water visibility is good. It'll be hot but not as hot as it gets. The water will be lovely and warm. I believe November is one of the best times of year for snorkelling and diving on the reef.

Alice Springs will be hot but it's hot year round - just try to keep in the shade and drink plenty of water. No need to worry about water temperature there unless you are planning to feed yourself to the crocs.

Don't forget to wear a hat and sunscreen - not just because it's hot but because Australia is closer to the hole in the ozone layer.

Have a great time!

It is warm to hot in November. It is the start of the wet season so expect rain in Sydney and the Barrier Reef. Temperatures in Alice Springs could be very hot.

You can check the climatic averages for anywhere in Australia here:

Alice springs will be fairly warm but Sydney will be nice as November is the last month of spring.
