Boy, do I miss white castle hamburgers and cheeseburgers. I grew up in chicago, and my dad used to take me there. then we moved to california when I was 10. Is there a White Castle in California??? I need my White castle fix. and I dont want to pay $6 for a box of 6 frozen ones..........

You are surely out of luck for a White Castle in SoCal unless you go to Sam's or Walmart and buy the frozen ones. There are several copycat recipes on the net if you search the copycat sites and some of them are pretty good imitations. The secret is steaming and not grilling. Check them out. Of course you could always get an In-n-Out and be the envy of all of the people on the east coast that are jonesing for them and can't even buy them frozen! Good luck in your quest.

I feel your pain, they're still my favorites and when I go back to Chicago I think my relatives try to drive in such a way that we won't pass any because they know I'll make them stop if I see one. There are none here in CA unfortunately, even if you do pay for the frozen ones you'll find they're not the same. If you're in SoCal, you might try Tommy's. They're my 2nd favorite hamburger in the world, have nothing in common with White Castle's though (great chiliburgers).

According to the whitecastle.com website, they have no restaurants in CA, only "retail locations." So you're kinda stuck with the frozen kind, unfortunately!
